Day Seven

Day seven felt a lot more productive than the past week. I was able to present and discuss the workshop I am putting together for next month. I think there are some disagreements with some of the activities I have planned, which is fine. I learned about how big I can go with some of these sessions. Yay! But now it's time to do the planning and paperwork for it... The super fun stuff....

So, I've been hearing every now and then is the criticism on my interaction with the kids here. I don't think they feel like I am trying hard enough to really get to know these kids. I think they are questioning my ability to work with kids. Me? I've only been working with children for years!! I'll admit. It's challenging with the language barrier. I can't speak Chinese!! And they don't feel comfortable enough to speak to me in English...

It's fine. One thing I've learned is to make most of what is dealt to me. My expectations and reality aren't always going to be parallel, but that is no reason to fret. I'm going to make a bomb ass workshop that will make some sort of positive impact on these children's lives! WOO!

For lunch today, I had to eat something different. Something more familiar than the sweet flavored everything. Surprisingly, there are authentic Thai restaurants nearby the agency. And they have pictures for me to choose from. YAY!

And thanks to this kitty that roams around the neighborhood, I was able to talk to the rambunctious boys that come to the center. This kitty is straight up chillin' and gives no f-cks.

Look at these vending machines outside the dormitories. Got me a Mamee. The bag with the blue monster on it. A kid from the center introduced it to me. You crush it and put it the seasoning in and eat. Yum!
